Calf Number 3 has arrived...



This is Frosty Face with her brand new calf

Red Feather





Red Feather is standing up for the

very first time !


She was born this afternoon in a rain storm.

Frosty Face is a good mama cow and will

take good care of little Red Feather.

  2. Yay!!! Another heifer!! More replacements for your herd! If you have an excessive number of heifers born, do you also sell those like you do the bulls/steers? Do they sell for the same money? You can tell, we've only had a couple of steers at the farm since I moved there and they were destined for the freezer. My hubby's grandfather ran cattle many years ago, but he died when my husband was still in school.

    1. We choose the best heifers to keep as replacement cows. The rest of the herd is shipped out in late July. Sometimes we keep a few of them, sometimes we keep a lot of them.

  3. Calves! Other than everything else you post (haha), I love seeing the new calves the most. Born in the rain.. sigh... We still have 4 feet of snow in the Yukon until May. I want to run around your grassy meadows. lol
