Twin bull calf....comes home

It has been 2 long months trying to keep

this cow and her twin calves together...

Mama Cow and her Twin Calves

Mama has never cared for her bull calf....

number 25

We have come to the pasture today

to check up on him...

He is alone, abandoned and hungry.

It is time to bring him home

and feed him on a bottle.

We are out in the pasture in the video below:

  1. Awww....poor baby...but he will be in good hands now!!! And it will be interesting to hear and see how he's doing under your care. How long will you have to bottle feed him? Thanks for the update!!!

  2. Oh poor kid ... How bad it is for him that his mother does not want a cow ... How often does it happen in cows?

  3. It does not happen very often. We have a second set of calf twins and their mama is taking good care of both of them.

  5. He will be fed on a bottle for several months until at which time he is eating grass, grain and alfalfa hay and no longer requires milk.

  8. You did an awesome job trying to get MamaCow to fall in love and care for her bull calf twin. She made it so far, I thought she'd go the long run. But glad to know you have been watching them closely and decided to bring this guy home. More work, but sounds like fun too. And, I know this bull calf will know you love him.

  9. Awww, poor baby! I knew it was a gamble you had to take...too bad mama was so opposed to him and wouldn't feed him without you nearby. I'm glad he will now be loved on and fed by you or cowboy (just another chore to squeeze in this busy time).

  10. The bull calf was very lonely here @ home by himself….he bawled a lot @ the cows across the river. I went to the dairy yesterday and picked up a day old bull calf…..they just love each other and slept together in the barn last night.

All is quiet @ our barn now,
    LuAnn

  11. The 2 bottle babies are having great fun running around the corral, chasing each other and enjoying life! I will bring the video camera out to the barn and see if I can capture some of their fun times.
    Bye For Now,
