Painted Canvas...

The Art Sisters are painting canvas today

We are working in the Quilt Palace Kitchen

The primed canvas is on the table.

Inspirational images are taped

on all the cupboards.

We begin at 11 am

We rolled on the first layer of craft paint

with sponge rollers

The first layer is dry we are ready to add more...

We are adding marks with corn on the cob,

rubber bands, jar lids, pool noodles, bubble

wrap, netting, corks, mostly found items.

The second layer is dry...

We add a third layer of paint...

We are using black and white paint...

We are all in agreement...

the painted canvas is DONE!

Close Up Images:

It is now 12:30......1.5 hours to paint this canvas.

While we eat lunch, the canvas dries.

We sliced up the canvas into 6 sections,

1 for each Art Sister:

Everyone seems happy with

their portion of the painted canvas!

Now we are off to the sewing machines

to stitch up

Zipper Bags:

Here is a beauty shot of all the bags:

The Art Sisters now have

painted canvas zipper bags

to store their art supplies!

Gather your friends together and get busy...

  5. I would like to know as well...what type of paints did you use? I have canvas here already. Do I need to coat it with Gesso first? Thanks!

  6. Craft paints are perfect because they dry quickly, so no waiting around for paint to dry between each layer. I had primed canvas in the closet, but you can use most any kind of canvas, no need to coat it with Gesso.
