Jacket.....it's been a long time

It's been more than 20 years since I did

any garment construction...

I'm not sure if I remember how?

I found this jacket pattern and could not resist

giving it a go!

I pre-washed the fabric...

then starched it twice for body...

I remembered how to lay out the pattern...

it's cut out and ready for the sewing machine...

I managed to locate the pinking shears...

I also remembered where the seam roll, hem ruler

and marking pen were...

The pleat is done in the back of the jacket...

The pockets are on the front of the jacket...

The pockets are on the back of the jacket...

The shoulder seams are sewn...

The sleeves are sewn in...

It's starting to look like something:

Back of Jacket...

Front of Jacket...

Tomorrow I will tackle the collar and facings.

I couldn't resist doing some quilting:

With the leftover jacket fabric...

I am making a little quilted zipper bag.

I quilted a piggy back feather on it.

More to Come...

Sweet Birdies:

These little birds live on the Thread Shed...

At night they nestle into the ivy that grows on the side

of the Thread Shed...

During the day they roost on the vine that grows

on the arbor in front of the Thread Shed...
