Powered Up and......Feeling Groovy

We started out day 5 without power...

The baby chicks were still indoors with us keeping
warm by the wood stove.

I spent the morning gathering up all of the oil lanterns
to refill them with lamp oil...

and checked all of the flashlight batteries
to prepare for our next evening in the dark...

Then we decided to spend the day out of doors
in the sunshine...

After every rain, wind or snow storm
there is lots of clean up in the yard:

Check out the 30 foot fir limb dangling from this tree
in the driveway.

This isn't our first rodeo with tree limbs
hanging from this tree...

Several of our vehicles and those of our friends and family
have unfortunately been crushed by falling limbs from this tree.

Brad ties a strap to the broken limb...

It will take a lot of force
to remove the broken limb from the tree...

With a BIG tug from the pick up...
the 30 foot tree limb falls to the ground.

It is no longer a danger....

Now for the clean up crew to move in...

All of these limbs are from one tree!

Brad fills up the pick up with limbs after every storm.

When we returned from unloading the tree limbs,
we pulled down the driveway at 5pm and...
our front porch light was on!

Let there be POWER

Time to get back into the Thread Shed
and get busy on the Feelin' Groovy Quilt:

This is a birthday quilt for our youngest son.
Do you think I will have it bound and labeled
by April 9, 2012 ?

It is good to have power again!
The first thing I did was turn on the faucet and wash my hands
under hot water.......it felt wonderful.
