Calving Season.....Calf Count

We are one month into calving season...

Edith has..... TWINS

Edith is doing a great job caring

for 2 babies...

The babies stick right with her !

The Cowboy stays busy tagging new calves...

This is a brand new shorthorn heifer calf.

This is a brand new black angus calf...

Within minutes the calf is up and

following mama cow...

Everyone shows up to welcome the new calf...

The calf's navel must be trimmed and  cleaned

with iodine to prevent infection...

We call this....chip off the old block:

Doll Face has a new calf......Butter Cup

This is.....Eleanor

I love her perfectly marked face !

Eleanor with her mama...

This is Abigail.....a real beauty.

We are one month into calving

with 39 calves on the ground...

Two more months to go.

I am hoping to get out to the Thread Shed

today and get in some stitching...

maybe I will have some show 'n tell soon !

  1. Wow, one month into calving season and you already have a lot of beautiful calves. They are all adorable. I'm looking forward to seeing more calves, as well as seeing them grow big. What a wonderful season!

    1. Hi Darlene,
We had 2 more calves born today. I will try and get new images posted as time allows. We never tire of seeing new babies each day!

  2. This is a great show and tell!!! All those beautiful babies and the twins!! Oh, the twins with a mama capable of caring for them both - what a blessing!!! I know you fell in love with the bottle calves (3-4 years ago...maybe a few more!), but they do create more work for you. How are the goats? Haven't seen them in ages! Hope the remainder of the calving season is good, with healthy calves and mamas!!

    1. Howdy Farm Quilter,
The goats are just fine, just very wet this time of year....not great photos right now. Hard to believe that the bottle babies are 5 years in May....eek! They weight close to a ton now and still come when I call them!

      Hugs,
      LuAnn
