Baby Quilt.....Minions

This is how I spent a few hours yesterday:

Minions....Baby Quilt

This is the panel BEFORE quilting:

The quilting brings these panels to life !

505 Spray

My favorite for spray basting quilts

Lots of BIG SWIRLS are FUN !

Brings a SMILE to my face !

Yummy flannel for the backing...

As soon as I get the binding on this,

it will be winging its' way cross country.

While loading hay this morning

I noticed this Blue Heron perched in a tree

in the barn lot:

They are such beautiful birds...

They spend their time fishing along the river.

Table Runner....Petal Power

I am a sucker for Charm Packs...

When else can you get an entire line of fabric

in one bitty package...

This one will be a table runner:

How FUN are these fabrics !

All pieced and ready to be quilted...

Free Motion Swirls and Feathers...

This is the best way to spend the day...

The backing fabric works as a

2 sided table runner...

Makes me.....HAPPY !

This is how we spend our mornings:

Feeding the cattle...

I drive and the Cowboy feeds off the back

It is such a treat to see Felix enjoying his

breakfast with the cows every day.

Felix....8 months

Elk Calf...Video

He's been around so long he finally has a name...

FELIX

This super cute elk calf has been living

with our cattle for a couple of months now.

Each morning he follows the hay truck

through the field

as the Cowboy flakes off hay to the cows.

I captured a video of FELIX yesterday...

Enjoy the Video:

Fabulous Finish....Number 3

Fabulous Finish....Number 3

This is the 5th in a series of

Barn Lot Quilts

I was working on in 2019...

There was still a bit of machine quilting

that needed to be finished up on this one:

Can you see the rusted horse shoes

on the fabric?

Here is a close-up view:

Horse shoes from one of

the Cowboy's roping horses

is wrapped in the fabric and rusted with vinegar.

The images on this quilt are all about....RUST

Lots of rusty objects in the barn lot.

I tried to keep the quilting simple so it

would not interfere with the printed images...

After the quilting was complete...

I took out my 20 inch ruler and squared up

the corners and trimmed the edges and

stitched on the binding...

I hand dyed the backing fabric...

5 Barn Lot Quilts completed....so far.

Fabulous Finish....Number 2

I am devoting my time in 2022

to complete my unfinished quilt projects:

This is Fabulous Finish...Number 2

This is 4th in a series of Barn Lot Quilts

that I was working on in 2019...

These are all personal images taken by me

and transferred to cotton fabric:

We have lots of rusty stuff in the barn lot

that I used to rust the background fabrics...

It was great FUN to quilt circles and curves

all over the quilt...

Commercial cottons make up the pieced borders

I hand dyed the backing fabric...

The binding is also hand dyed:

The binding has been rolled up on a piece of

cardboard since 2019...

Binding is on...

the 4th Barn Lot Quilt is DONE !

As you can see from this image...

the 5th Barn Lot Quilt is waiting to be finished.

The Baby Elk Calf is still here:

He lives in the pasture with the cattle...

As you can see, he stands in line with

all of the cows waiting for his breakfast...

Not sure how long he will stick around,

but it is FUN to see him every morning

when we feed.

Fabulous Finish.....Number 1

It's official....

My first Fabulous Finish for 2022

" Bird Seed "

Flying Geese and Pumpkin Seeds

I put this top together last Spring

and all that was left was the binding:

I use a 20 inch square ruler

to square up and trim off the corners...

then I trim off the sides...

All the rough edges are trimmed off

and it is ready for binding....

I cut my binding strips 2  1/4 inches

This is a lap quilt that will be used and

washed a lot,  so I am putting the

binding on by machine:

After the binding is sewn to the front,

then flipped over to the back side,

I used wonder clips every inch to keep it in place

so the back side does not shift while stitching...

Front side of binding...

Back side of binding

I quilted wonky flying geese in the borders...

Feathers are quilted around the pumpkin seeds...

This is heavily quilted and will stand up

to lots of use over the years.

Oh that sense of completion...

makes you feel great !
