The cows are still calving...
Here is our latest newborn.....Calf Number 54
Check out the red calf in the background,
she has come over to greet the new baby !
She is a real beauty......love that sweet face !
She may become a replacement cow
in our herd some day.
We are still fertilizing hay fields...
The fertilizing spreader is
kicking out the pellets...
I am looking out the
back window of the tractor
while the Cowboy loads up the
fertilizer spreader...
We should be done fertilizing in a few days,
then I can get back to driving my sewing machine !

Congratulations on your newest baby cow. I sure think it is sweet that other young ones help to welcome the new calves. Very special. I'm blow away that it is going to take a few days to fertilize. I plan on fertilizing my yard this weekend and suspect I'll be done in 15 minutes. LOL, you have much larger area to fertilize and to keep those cows happy. I do so think you have very Happy Cows.

DeleteWhen a new baby is born most of the mama cows and calves come over to see the baby. Yes, it takes awhile to fertilize the hay fields and pastures, but it is worth it when you see the thick, green grass growing up out of the ground. Yes, we try hard to keep our cows happy....they deserve the best !

what kind of hay do you all make? We have several types of grasses and sometimes bale wheat into big round bales.

HI Saska, We raise mainly native bent grass, which is very fine and our cattle love it. When we work up a field we seed it with a pasture mix which produces different grasses for a few years and eventually turns to mostly native bent grass. We have also baled up winter wheat into round bales and the cows really love that stuff and the bales are super heavy! So glad you enjoy the blog!

Beautiful mamas and babies!! The acres and acres of hay fields you have to fertilize to make sure your cattle have the best possible feed does take a fair bit of time and care. I love that you can work along side Cowboy to keep everything rolling along smoothly on the farm. You definitely have multiple talents!
