I made more Screen Play Totes
It was so much FUN to make the black tote
that I just had to make the pink tote...
How HAPPY is this tote !
I know somebody who loves cupcakes !
The brown mesh goes great with
this horse fabric...
I dug around in the fabric cupboard and found
the light tan fabric with brands on it...
this one is staying at my house !
and then there were.....3
It is birthday season in my world,
there will be more to come !

Those totes are fabulous!!! I especially like how square you got the bottoms to be - what does the inside of the bottom look like?? Choosing a favorite would be difficult, but after losing my horse this year, I would definitely go with the horse tote!! Miss my boy!!!
ReplyDeleteThe inside of the bag is all mesh. We covered a very stiff piece of cardboard with fabric and it fits nicely in the bottom for support. A horse is tough to lose, you never seem to get over it.

OMG!! Those are so gorgeous, I think the brown one is my favorite, but so is the cupcake, I love the all, is that mesh fabric on the top?? Did you line them as well part of the way??
ReplyDeleteThe entire bag is created with mesh. The fabric strips are stitched on top of the mesh. We used a very strong piece of cardboard, covered it with fabric and that is the support for the inside bottom of the tote.

So the fabric parts do not have any other type of stabilizer - like foam? - to make the tote sturdy? It looks firm on the bottom parts. If the fabric is just sewn onto the mess, the mesh must be pretty firm besides having a firm bottom as described in the above comment. Where can I get the mess? They are lovely
ReplyDeleteNo stabilizer is used in the making of this tote bag. Yes, the mesh is sturdy, yet soft and pliable as well. I covered a very firm piece of cardboard with fabric and placed that in the bottom of the bag for support, which is what the pattern instructed. There is a link at the bottom of this post for the pattern and mesh purchase.

so there is no other stabilizer - like foam - in the fabric parts? The tote stands firm so the mesh must be pretty firm. I do understand that you put in a firm cardboard bottom but it just looks so firm. Where can I get this type of mesh. I have only worked with mesh that is quite soft. The tote are lovely.
ReplyDeleteNo stabilizer is necessary....the vinyl mesh is quite sturdy and stands up on its own, the fabric sewn to it merely decorates it, but doesn't support it in any way. I included a link at the bottom of the post for ordering the vinyl mesh, which is also called Pet Screen.
