Soy Wax.....Class

has gathered together to create

Soy Wax Batik on Fabric

Soy Wax Batik Fabric......Class Samples

Soy Wax

Found Objects.....for stamping wax on fabric

Potato Mashers.....always a favorite!

Love that PVC pipe for stamping wax!

After a quick demo....

the students are hot waxing

We are waxing over commercial fabrics...

light colors

After the fabrics are all waxed...

we move onto painting over the wax

We mix:  1 part paint to 2 or 3 parts water

The waxed fabric is sprayed with water

to wet it down a bit before painting...

Painting over the waxed fabric with

diluted Setacolor paint...

The waxed areas resist the paint...

This white on white commercial fabric

created its very own interesting resist...

Look closely at the crackle resist.....FUN!

By the end of class,

the room was covered in

waxed and painted fabrics!

After the fabric has completely dried,

it will be placed between paper and ironed

to set the paint.

Then, washed in a HOT washing machine

and dried.

Many thanks to all of my classroom helpers...

You are the best!

  2. What a blast everyone seemed to be having!!! Making beautiful fabrics and that crackle produced with the white on white fabric was awesome!!! What are you planning on making with the fabric created??

  3. Yes, the students were giddy with excitement and truly enjoyed playing with the hot wax. I plan to use my hot wax fabrics for abstract quilts and also zipper bags.
