Painted Canvas.....Tote Bags

Remember these messy painted canvas?

We painted them a couple weeks ago...

They are so much FUN to create...

They are so much FUN to cut up and stitch...

I am back at it.....stitching up canvas tote bags:

I made a small child size tote.....very sweet

All totes are 2 sided.

Stitching and Sign Making...

Making time for stitching...

Over the summer I have squirreled away

enough time to piece together

113 Crosscut Quilt Blocks...

In 90 degree weather,

the box fan runs steady in the Thread Shed

Today, I am trimming up the

crosscut blocks...

A revolving cutting surface works best...

It saves time, is more accurate and

is easier on your body...

All trimmed up...

112 more crosscut blocks to trim...

On the farming side of our lives...

We recently moved our cow and calf pairs

to summer pasture.

They are on open range now,

which means they use the road

to cross between our pastures.

It was time to make new signs

to post on the road.

2 signs are needed:

One sign is posted on each end of the road...

We are hoping this will slow down the log trucks

this summer, as well as the hunters this fall.

Our cow and calf pairs will remain

on Open Range grazing until

we move them the end of the year.

Brushes from Nature...

Creating Handcrafted Brushes

from natural objects...

We gathered various botanicals...

My botanicals were mostly weeds that I picked

along the road side

as we moved the cattle this morning...

The Art Sisters are at the Quilt Palace

getting crazy with handcrafting brushes!

Ferns

Cedar

Old Man's Beard Lichen

Hydrangea

Feather

It is quite joyful creating marks

with objects from nature...

Circles are always a favorite!

Here are the brushes I created...

The fern brush created tree shapes

The feather created broad strokes

The stems created tiny strokes

The foxgloves created bold circles

The pine needles also made great circles

I thoroughly enjoyed testing out all of the

nature brushes on fabric.

All of our brushes drying in a pitcher...

makes a beautiful display!

Summer @ Kessi Farms...

Summer here in Western Oregon

The last hay field is baled up...

That's always a good feeling...

All of the cattle are doing well...

It is breeding season,

the bulls are in with the cows...

The calves are growing big and will remain

with their mothers until they are

weaned in November.

We just moved the cattle to summer pasture...

We are hauling all those BIG hay bales

to the barns for winter storage...

Ahhhh....

Summer time and the livin' is easy.

I think that's what they say?

Wishing you all a relaxing summer season!
