  1. What fun! I adore fusible applique, except I have found that fusible isn't forever so when I do it I either blanket stitch (with my machine) around it or quilt the dickens out of it! I like the use of fused binding, but I think I would have figured out how to miter the corners, but that is just OCD me!! They look wonderful! Were the flower parts cut out with a machine or hand cut?

  2. Howdy Farm Quilters,
We streamline so much of our process so that we can lead 20 or more students in a fiber art activity and have everyone complete the project in 3 hours. We decided against sewing machine work as we provide All of the machines for the students. Some of the students would probably enjoy learning sewing machine techniques and I wish we had more time for that part of the learning process. Many of our students do not want to sew at all, so this fused project truly fit the bill for them. We walk a fine line of what is possible in 3 hours. As always we want to keep this interesting and FUN for our students. They get a much needed burst of confidence when they complete a project in class.....I think we all do now don't we!

We used an AccuQuilt Go to die cut the flowers out of pre-fused fabrics. Many of our students have neuropathy from chemo treatments and are not comfortable doing a lot of hand cutting with scissors. We are so fortunate that one of our instructors owns the die cut machine.

    Many thanks for your comment.
