I am attending a Quilt Retreat this week...
This is my free motion quilting set up:
Behind my machine is a
notice the yellow clamps supporting
my quilt sandwich.
This system clamps to the table
so I can take it anywhere I go!
Because the quilt is suspended,
there is no drag while I am quilting...
unless Ralph is helping me.
Away from home, this extension table
works great to support the quilt.
This is my favorite free motion foot...
it looks like a cookie with a bite out of it.
It gives me absolutely clear visibility,
Bernina Foot #24
Even while traveling,
I am able to free motion quilt
just as well as I do at home...
even when I get too much help!
I have 2 days left at retreat...
more to come!

love your fmq...what weight thread do you use to fmq
ReplyDeleteHi Katheen.....I use most any thread for free motion quilting if it is the color that I need for the job. I absolutely adore the sheen of trilobal polyester threads. For the whole cloth in this post I am using YLI Variations thread, which is one of my very favorites. I use most all the the Superior Threads with great success. I think once you quilt long enough and know your machine well enough you can quilt with most any thread.

Your favorite foot? That hairy cat foot? Very funny post, thanks!
ReplyDeleteDo you have something specific in mind for the quilted hand dyed fabric? It is so pretty. I am currently making several projects with my huge stash of hand dyed fabrics. Have to make room so I can dye some more!
ReplyDeleteI am using the wholecloth to make fabric bins. I already made some you can view here:
