Quilt Retreat.......Idaho

Last week I was at an Oregon Quilt Retreat.

This week an Idaho Quilt Retreat...

This is my little green 185K Singer and

this is my view at the retreat...

This is the view of the lake out the window...

I brought along fused fabrics so I can

do some design work while I am here...

I also brought along fish printing supplies

so I can lead a class in printing while I am here...

Bags created with fish prints on fabric...

The students had a great time fish printing:

This is the room I share with my aunt...

This is a new composition I am starting...

I am creating a Melody Johnson design

as part of her Focus on Fusing class.

This is an eye I created with fused fabrics...

I am creating a background for the eye...

I added tiny confetti pieces in the background...

I plan to do some thread sketching on

this piece when I get home...

I enjoyed my time in Northern Idaho...

Time to head back to Oregon

Snap Bags and Zipper Bags...

I am having some sort of a bag craze

and I can't seem to stop myself...

Ralph keeps the fabric warmed up on my table...

We spent the week at the Quilt Palace:

My laundry basket is piling up with Bags!

Made from black sun printed fabric and

Blue Thermofax printed fabric

Minnie Mouse Bag

You know all those fat quarters you buy

because they look fun?

Well, I pulled them out of the cupboard

and turned them into bags.

I wish I had more than a fat quarter

of these birds on pink

Roy Rogers and Trigger

Crows and Ravens.....always a favorite

Hand Painted
Canvas Zipper Bags:

 Snap Bag:

Made from Jello Printed Fabric

Knick Knack Sack

I have been going through lots of zippers!

I have not tired of creating bags....

Painted Canvas...

The Art Sisters are painting canvas today

We are working in the Quilt Palace Kitchen

The primed canvas is on the table.

Inspirational images are taped

on all the cupboards.

We begin at 11 am

We rolled on the first layer of craft paint

with sponge rollers

The first layer is dry we are ready to add more...

We are adding marks with corn on the cob,

rubber bands, jar lids, pool noodles, bubble

wrap, netting, corks, mostly found items.

The second layer is dry...

We add a third layer of paint...

We are using black and white paint...

We are all in agreement...

the painted canvas is DONE!

Close Up Images:

It is now 12:30......1.5 hours to paint this canvas.

While we eat lunch, the canvas dries.

We sliced up the canvas into 6 sections,

1 for each Art Sister:

Everyone seems happy with

their portion of the painted canvas!

Now we are off to the sewing machines

to stitch up

Zipper Bags:

Here is a beauty shot of all the bags:

The Art Sisters now have

painted canvas zipper bags

to store their art supplies!

Gather your friends together and get busy...
