Machine Quilting….Table Runners

I have had a pile of table runners in the Thread Shed

that I made 8 or 10 years ago….eeek!

It is time to finish them or forget them:

5 inch charm packs make great table runners…

I finished this one years ago…it was a class sample.

Table runners are a good size

to practice your free motion quilting!

There are 4 more runners….in progress….. in the pile.

I have decided to finish them and give them away as gifts.

It will feel good to get these done

and out of the Thread Shed.

This one has the backing on already and is ready to quilt:

I have decided to do some

straight line quilting on this one…

Square Spiral Stencil

Poly Sheen Thread has a nice shine to it…

I am working on the Bernina today so that I may use

the walking foot for all that straight line quilting…

This runner lent itself nicely to straight line quilting…

I chalked out the first 3 or 4 lines,

then I just used the edge of the walking foot as a guide

for stitching the lines...

You can find this stencil here:

This is the next one under the needle:

Reproduction fabrics…..charm pack

After all the previous straight line stitching...

I couldn't keep from feathering this quilt!

I turned off the lights in the thread shed:

The natural light pouring through the window

highlights the stitches beautifully…

This is a polyester batting

so the stitching shows up very well.

And….then there were two:

I am hoping to get back to these later this week

while I am in the…..Get'er done mood!

  1. You are on a roll! I love the way the prairie points gathered with the quilting. It's even cuter with that effect. What if you combined the last 2 into 1 reversible runner?

  3. The sunflower is my favorite as well. They are all lovely though. I especially like the feather quilting. Very nice.

  4. Thanks so much for all of your kind comments. Table runners…..so much instant gratification. So glad I don't have to look at them piled up in the Thread Shed any longer.
