Hexagon Text Quilt……Machine Quilting

Remember this quilt top?

Hexagon Text Quilt...

I began paper piecing it 2 years ago in Yellowstone Park:

Yes, we never leave home without…..GUNNR

I never travel without a Take-a-Long Quilt project:

I was visiting my son, while he worked in the park:

He was part of a a trout study on Yellowstone Lake:

I saw my very first Grizzly Bear that year in the park:

Lots of great memories come flooding back

when I look at this quilt…

It is now under the needle

It took 1 year to hand piece it…

then it sat for a year waiting it's turn to be machine quilted.

I am quilting wavy lines across the surface.

My favorite guy has claimed this quilt, so I want

to keep the quilting masculine to match the quilt.

I had FUN fussy cutting some of the hexagons:

I am originally from…..New Jersey

I attended lots of Yankee games in New York

I now live in…..Oregon

Yes, this quilt will always conjure up

lots of memories for me...

The machine quilting is complete...

I will bind and label it today…….aaaah.

Raffle Quilt…..Binding

The machine quilting is completed

on the 2015 WCC Raffle Quilt

Summer Breeze Quilt

Created by The Harlan Valley Quilters in Oregon

This was a FUN one to quilt…

It is ready for the binding:

Scrappy Binding from leftover 2.5 inch strips

I bind with my Bernina because it is surrounded

by work tables to support a big quilt

The Thread Shed is located in front of the barn.
The horses and cattle keep me company while I stitch.

The binding is on the front side of the quilt…

I am stitching on a hanging sleeve and label today.

The weather looks perfect

for an outdoor photo shoot of this quilt.

More photos to come…

I took my camera along this morning

while feeding the cattle herd

We are feeding at the Westfork Barn:

I took some video of feeding the Cows and Calves...

Raffle Quilt…..Machine Quilting

I scurried out to the Thread Shed early this morning

to get going with the machine quilting

on the 2015 raffle quilt donated to

The Women's Cancer Coalition

I will mark a stem line as a guide

for the big leaf vine design…

Today I am using a blue marker

I don't stitch the stem line….

it is only a guide for my free motion leaves

I drew out some feathers

but have decided to go with the leaf vine

I echo quilted around the leaf vine after it was all stitched…

After all of the vines are stitched out…

I will stitch horizontal lines between the vines.

All of the vines have been quilted and I started on the horizontal lines (forgot to take an image).

I am hoping to finish the quilting on this tomorrow.

I will post images soon!

The autumn fog is back…

It gathers along the river just below the back yard.

I love to watch the sun come up and burn off the fog

The blue jays are feasting on sunflower seeds in the yard.
