African Mask.....Play Day

We are preparing for a class next January...

African Masks

This textile came directly from Africa

Class Sample:

Instructor:  Nancy Bryant

The masks will be mounted on stretched canvas:

The canvas needs paint and varnish...

First coat of black paint...

Second coat of black paint...

While we wait for the paint to dry:

Nancy gives instruction on mask making

Students will choose from different mask patterns

Mask Inspiration

The students will only have 3 hours of class time,

so these play days help us gauge the time needed

to complete the class project

After Nancy's instruction, we got right with it!

Creating masks today for class samples in January.

Nancy applying the final coat of varnish

The completed textiles will be mounted with velcro tabs

Making a creative mess can be so therapeutic

With several people testing out the class procedure...

We decided this was a project the students could complete

in the 3 hour class time
