This is sooooo cool. If I was still in my art classroom, I's do this right away but now retired, I have to think about doing this in my home. Maybe we'll try it with one of my quilt groups at church or the senior center.

ReplyDeleteWe have used the big kitchen area at our local church for this class.......it works wonderfully well. You really need a sink nearby for cleaning the brayers, rubber stamps, etc. You also need an area to lay out the textiles to dry. The actual gelatin printing doesn't require very much space at all. We cover all surfaces with plastic drop cloths from the dollar store, to protect the tables or counters.
This technique is wonderful for children's parties and any beginning level crafter.
This has become our favorite class at Permission 2 Play.

This is a very interesting slide show! I can't wait to have a chance to try it. Do you have to prep the cotton before the printing? How many times can you use the gelatin? Do you wash it off before the next color? I love the cloth you made- Gorgeous!

You can use the gelatin over and over and over again.
Just cover it in plastic and chill it.
No, you really don't need to clean it off between printings....the last printing usually takes everything off the jell plate.
