  3. Beautiful work!! I have been doing my own machine quilting, but am inspired by your work to try to get to the next level. I ordered a couple of Patsy Thompson's DVDs, but have only gotten through the first exercise so far. I was amazed at what a beautiful feather I could create with her wonderful directions!

How do you choose your threads, etc? The contrast is fantastic and brings the quilt to life. I loved how you showed the plain flower, then the applique, then the quilting. There aren't enough superlatives to describe it! Thanks so much for sharing - and for showing the entire process.

  4. Hi Nan,
Thank you for your kind words. You are headed in the right direction with Patsy's DVDs. Her patient teaching style is wonderful. The best thing I learned from Patsy was to spray baste my quilts. Just remember to start small until you polish your free motion skills, then work your way up to larger quilts......less frustrating for you.
As far as threads, I am in LOVE with every thread made by superiorthreads.com. For machine quilting I adore trilobal polyester and so does my machine. If you go to my blog, on the left side under labels....click on TIPS. You will see my recommendations for threads, etc.
Have fun on your machine quilting journey!
