Little Houses...Table Runner

I met with my local quilt group

The Harlan Valley Quilters

We meet every Monday @ The Quilt Palace

I found this layer cake in a thrift store last year

and decided it was time to play with it...

I fused the fabrics and cut them into

house shapes and pressed them

onto a white background fabric...

Then I did a little free motion

scribble stitching

always a favorite of mine !

I used black thread to help define

the house shapes...

Then I cut squares from the leftover fabrics

and pieced them into borders...

First two borders stitched and pressed...

All 4 borders.....done !

Next Monday I will sandwich this up

and get to the machine quilting and binding...

More To Come !

High Desert Mule Deer...#2

In May I created two of these

Mule Deer Panel Quilts...

I finished the first one and

gave it away as a gift...

I just finished the quilting on the second one...

I machine quilted it on my

Sweet Sixteen sit-down long arm...

I changed thread colors several times

to match the colors in the quilt...

It is so satisfying cutting off the rough edge,

stitching on the binding and hanging sleeve...

Here it is hanging in the living room.

Here are the first 3 blooms on the

Black Eyed Suzy plant....

The Day Lilies are blooming...

The Orange Cone Flowers are showing off !

The big lime Hosta is blooming too.

We are putting hay in the barns today...

no sewing for me.

Farm & Garden...

Here it is summer...

and I haven't even posted Spring images !

This is in the backyard by the guest house...

Whiskey barrels make great plant stands.

The Wisteria vine really put on a show...

Wisteria blooms...

More whiskey barrels by the grape arbor...

Check out the size of the lime hosta...

We tore out all of the rhodies in front of the house

last fall and are going

low maintenance flower beds.

I am still looking for landscape rock to fill in

the flower bed with the whiskey barrels.

We removed all of the iris from this flower bed

in the front yard last fall.

This spring we planted a few new plants

and added planter boxes for flower seeds...

The Cowboy built me  Cowboy Boxes

to plant flower seeds in the Spring...

He burned our brand in the side and hammered

on a few horse shoes.

The Cowboy also built this bird house

that the Tree Swallows nest in each Spring...

Also growing in front of the house

are calla lilies blooming...

Calla Lily blooms...

They are so elegant...

On the other side of the yard is my Thread Shed

and off to the right is the Hen House,

off to the left is our little red barn...

We also removed rhodies from the left side

of the Thread Shed and replaced

them with whiskey barrels and planters...

Another ornament in the yard is

my red tractor...

The Cowboy hooked up the hay mower...

I have spent the last several weeks inside

the cab of this tractor...mowing hay.

I do love to mow hay...

I find it very relaxing.

They hay fields have all been

mowed, raked and baled...

We are now loading the hay bales on trailers

and hauling it to the barns for winter storage.

I will soon have time to get back to

my sewing machine.....FUN !
