Indigo Dyeing.....Play Day

The Art Sisters are here for a day of PLAY

We are Indigo Dyeing

We are using the Jacquard Indigo Dye Kit

Indigo Dyed Fabrics

Yellow Bucket: Clamped fabrics soaked in water

White Bucket:  Indigo Dye Vat

Red Basket:  Indigo Dyed Fabrics oxygenating

When the fabrics are removed from the dye vat,

the oxygen turns them from

green to....blue

Kathi is dyeing a shibori wrapped piece

on a large pvc pipe...

Kathi's fabrics....turning blue

Kathi also wrapped fabric on a vent...

The center fabric is a shibori wrapped and dyed piece.

We had a yard full of FUN!

Tongs work great to remove the fabrics

from the Indigo Dye vat

Nancy is holding her fabric under the dye...

the fabrics tend to float!

Beth removes her shibori piece from the vat...

notice it is green.

The fabrics come out green,

then turn blue when exposed to oxygen.

Beth rinses her Indigo dyed shirt

Kathi rinses her clamped fabric...

Popsicle sticks clamped on triangle folded fabric,

created this pattern.

Fabric wrapped around wiffle balls...

Wiffle Ball Indigo Dyed Fabric

Kathi over-dyed this screen printed bird

in the indigo vat.

The dyed fabrics really piled up

as the day went on...

I am meeting up with the Art Sisters this week

for a show 'n tell of our Indigo Dyed Fabrics...

I will share the images soon!
