Sketch Book.....Evolution of a Feather

I call this a Piggy Back Feather...

Plumes are stitched on the backs of

previous plumes

I decided to take photos as I drew out this design:

I chalk out the feather spine onto fabric...

1...... At the base of the spine, I begin to

add plumes on the bottom right side

2......  Here comes the piggy back part

Add left facing plumes onto the back

 of the previous plume

3....... Then add another section of plumes

Continue piggy backing and adding plumes

until the right side of the spine is filled in.

Then stitch back down the spine to the bottom:

Then stitch plumes on the left side of the spine.

We enjoyed the Iris bed this year:

The Brown Iris are a favorite of mine

The Iris bed is all cleaned out for this year...

Glad to have these photos to enjoy

until they bloom next year
